Action: Fall Music Round-up
As the days get shorter, it makes sense to add a little darkness to your record collection. This season, moody bands are bringing drama to fall playlists. The Occasion’s sophomore effort, Cannery Hours, brings listeners an expansive, spaced-out sound reminiscent of Pink Floyd in their prime. Mobius Band have been honing their craft with Interpol producer Peter Katis to create their first full-length disc, The Loving Sounds of Static, an album full of computer-augmented hooks and electronic beats layered over lustrous vocals. Apologies to the Queen Mary, the first full-length release from Wolf Parade, is one of the most anticipated indie albums of the year. Incorporating the occasional disco beat into their weird world of dissonant synth and Bowie-esque vocals, Apologies isn’t exactly dance music, but you’d be hard-pressed not to shake it along with these Canadian misfits.
